Mr. Roderick Delance Jackson, 47, of 831 West Front Street, Statesville, passed away in Mooresville on Friday, April 14, 2017, unexpectedly. He was born in Iredell County on January 3, 1970, and was the son of Thomas and Patricia Cowan Jackson. He was married to Sharondria Jones Jackson, who survives.
He was a graduate of North Iredell High School and attended St. Mark Christian Church in Troutman where his father, Dr. Thomas Jackson is the pastor. He also served as a minister.
He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, his wife, Sharondria Jones Jackson of Statesville; his daughter, Sakiya Jackson of Statesville; his parents, Dr. Thomas Jackson and Evangelist Patricia Cowan Jackson, both of Statesville; two sisters, Patriece (Keith) Hammitt of Baton Rouge, LA and Dana J. (Minister Carl) Mitchell) of Charlotte, NC; five brothers, Pastor Thomas (Daquaine) Jackson, Jr. and Justin (Crystal) Jackson, both of Hollywood, Florida, Elder Phillip Jackson of Statesville, Matthew Jones of Salisbury and Timothy Jefferson of Anaheim, CA.; his mother-in-law, Cheryl Gray of Statesville; three sisters-in-law, Chantel Woodberry, Wendy Jones and Shanika Alexander, all of Statesville; two nieces, Mauriauna Hammitt and Maya Hammitt; three nephews, Dean Thomas Padgett, Christian Jackson and Julian Jackson; special cousins, Jeff Cauthen and Jody Cauthen; eight uncles, George Cowan, Ricky Cowan and Ronnie Cowan, all of Winston-Salem, Paul Cowan and Ronnie Cowan, both of California; Nathaniel (Barbara Ann) Jackson, Walter "Peal" (Frances) Jackson and Johnny Matthew "Beauty" (Sherry) Lewis, all of Statesville; four aunts, Brenda Cowan of Winson-Salem, Carolyn Baker of California, Ann (John) Cauthen of Troutman,Pastor Carolyn Morrison and Viola Campbell of Statesville; and a host of cousins, neighbors, other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Saturday, April 23, 2017, at 12:00 noon at Shiloh AME Zion Church. Reverend J. Ruth Davis is Pastor and Pastor Thomas Jackson, his brother, will eulogize. Burial will follow at a later date in the Belmont Cemetery. Mr. Jackson will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 11:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon, but will assemble at the residence of his parents, Dr. Thomas and Evangelist Patricia Jackson, 1011 Absher Road, Statesville, NC, at other times.
