Obituary for Kenneth Ramsey

Mr. Kenneth Eugene Ramsey, 64, of 383 Village Road, Mocksville, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017, at the Gordon Hospice House following an extended illness. He was born in Iredell County on July 6, 1952, and was the son of the late Nebraska and Helen Rankin Ramsey. He was preceded in death by a special friend, Carolyn Hayden, a brother, Tommy Rankin, James Edward Ramsey and George Ramsey; and two sisters-in-law, Annie Ramsey and Mamie Rankin.
He attended Amity Schools and was a graduate of Unity High School. He was a member of Shinnsville United Church of Christ in Troutman.
He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, six step-children, Shaun Hayden, James Hayden, Sonya Hayden, Russell Hayden, Traci Connor and Michelle Hayden; one brother, Nathaniel (Rosa Lee) Ramsey of Troutman; four aunts, Ruth Rankin and Carrie Bell Ramsey, both of Statesville, Annie Ramsey of Charlotte and Eldora Rankin of Cleveland; a host of nieces and nephews including a special niece and caregiver, Cheri Ramsey of Mocksville; two special friends, John Edward Wilson and Virginia Blackwood; eight step grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Thursday, May 4, 2017, at 2:30 p.m. at The Mary B. Bigham Memorial Chapel of Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Elder Hubert Harris will officiate and burial will follow in the Shinnsville United Church of Christ Cemetery in Troutman. Mr. Ramsey will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home where members of the family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:30 p.m., but will assemble at the residence, 383 Village Road, Mocksville, at other times.
