Obituary for Rosie Bailey
Mrs. Rosie Mae McClendon Bailey, 89, of 627 Diamond Street, Statesville, N. C. following an extended illness. She was born in Cannon, Georgia on September 13, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Charlie and Mary Maggie Clark McClendon. She was married to David Bailey, who preceded her in death. A daughter, Doris Bailey, and two siblings, Mary Frances Bennett and Eugene McClendon, also preceded her in death.
She attended Houstonville and Unity Schools and was added to Highland Acres Church of Christ.
She leaves to cherish the memory of her life, one daughter, Betty (James) Woods of Statesville; four grandchildren, Anthony (Tina) Woods, Shanika (Eric) Dalton, Nicholas Woods and Steven (Simone) Bailey, all of Statesville; nine great grandchildren, Antiono Woods, Mykia Woods, Jasmine Dalton, Jamison Woods, Eric Dalton, Tristian Bailey, Eli Bailey, Neal Alexander, and Kiara Clontz, all of Statesville; three great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Larry (Cora) Bennett, Alfred Bennett, Juanita Ecklels and Michael Smith, all of Statesville; and a host of cousins, other relatives, neighbors and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Highland Acres Church of Christ. Brother Al Simmons will officiate and burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery. Mrs. Bailey will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 1:00 p.m. Members of the family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:00 p.m., but will assemble at the residence at other times.
